I don't like the idea of that. A good way to stop the spam bots it just to simply send a confirmation ID to their E-Mail.

People create multiple accounts and don't have that many email addresses.

You can have it set up to where you can have more than one account per email. As long as you verify them all with that same email.
You can also put a limit on that. Say.. five accounts allowed, instead.
A lot of sites do that

No. New players who need help would just leave because they couldn't post and they could need help with logging on.

One out of every hundred people that register want to start posting right away. The odds of that person liking the game and forums enough to stay and get even 100 posts are nearly nonexistant.

The email confirmation was the second plan I had. I'm going to ask Ryan about this though to see what he wants to do.

On some sites when you're registering, you'll see custom signup questions. An example would be "What color is grass?".
It sounds like a pointless thing to add, but most bots probably aren't coded to handle those.

Might be something worth looking into. :)

I actually saw that when I was adding the stronger images. I'll go ahead and add one for that and see what happens.
